Bio
I was born in 1968 and was 17 when I came to live in Amsterdam. The sleepy town in the Gooi area where I more or less grew up couldn’t satisfy my insatiable lust for challenge and excitement. After living a nomadic life for a while I ended up in Amsterdam and it just felt right.
It’s spring 2019 and I am searching for something new to do. I have always enjoyed writing and combining this with my love of Amsterdam was logical for me. The short stories and commentary on this website are inspired by my experiences, adventures and observations.
From an early age I have had a soft spot for the so-called fringes of society. This is reflected in the stories about Amsterdam’s Red Light District, the adventures of sex worker Tamara and the pieces about the homeless situation.
Along with stories of the city I also write about my love of nature and the forest; something that I have never given up on despite having lived most of my life in the city. I regularly look to nature to escape an increasingly hectic Amsterdam. My time in nature always inspires stories that I think are lovely. Of course, it would be wonderful if you also found them enjoyable. That’s why I do it.
